Ugbrooke Business Park.

Kitwave Group plc, the delivered wholesale business, is pleased to announce that it is expanding its FoodService division’s operations in the South West of England by leasing two new warehouses on the Ugbrooke Business Park, situated south of Exeter between Kingsteignton and Chudleigh.

Over the past two years, Kitwave has made two strategic acquisitions in the region – WestCountry Foods Holdings Limited and M.J. Baker Foodservice Limited, both of whom have depots in the Newton Abbot area. Kitwave’s growth in the region has provided the opportunity to accelerate the operational synergies of these combined businesses through the investment in the new warehouses, which collectively span 80,000 sq. ft and benefit from a large interconnecting yard.

The new site, which has been built to the highest specification and sustainable standards, will provide greater vehicle accessibility and logistical infrastructure, which includes administrative offices, dock levellers and a specialist refrigerator store, all of which will help to support future growth. The development will also see the creation of new jobs in the region.

The development of the warehouses was undertaken by Stuart Properties based at Hill Barton Business Park. Tony Noon of Noon Roberts Property Consultants was adviser to Stuart Properties, and Andrew Pearce of Pearce Property Consultants advised Kitwave on the acquisiition.

Ben Maxted, CEO of Kitwave commented:

“The recent acquisitions in the South West region have complemented our buy-and-build strategy and reflect our growth ambitions for our FoodService division in creating a UK-wide network.

“This strategic investment in the new facilities at Ugbrooke Business Park is therefore an exciting development as it will enable us to cater specifically for the Foodservice requirements in the South West, boosting both our capacity and customer servicing capabilities. At the same time, we are delighted to be creating further local jobs and supporting the community.”

Terry Murch, Construction Director at Stuart Properties, commented:

“This is one of the largest if not the largest industrial development in Devon over the last two years. The fact that Ugbrooke Business Park had an existing planning consent and the site was serviced and levelled ready for development meant we were able to fastrack the build programme to meet Kitwave’s operational programme. Terry Murch from Stuart Properties confirmed they were delighted to have worked with Kitwave on this important development for the area, and look forward to a long term working relationship with them.
